Principal's Message

Tierra Bonita Elementary School

Dear Tierra Bonita Families,

Welcome back and cheers to the start of the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Jeff Friedenberg, and I’m honored to have been chosen to serve the Tierra Bonita community as your Principal. I look forward to getting to know you in the coming weeks and learning how to support the school’s tradition of excellence.

Poway is my hometown. I attended Chaparral, Twin Peaks, and Poway High. It’s also where I began my career in education 18 years ago. After graduating from UC Santa Cruz, my first teaching assignment was next door at Twin Peaks. I’m excited by this truly special opportunity to give back once again to the community that raised me and where my wife and I chose to raise our three children.

This year we are proud to continue with our commitments to STEM, VAPA, Japanese, PE, and Social-Emotional Learning for all students. Additionally, students will have access to small group instruction targeted at accelerating growth to achieve grade level standards. After a full year of Illustrative Math learning, the team is geared up and ready to build upon students' conceptual knowledge of mathematics.

Many thanks to our TBES Foundation, PTA, and PAWS for their tremendous efforts supporting the students of Tierra Bonita. We aspire to grow the membership in these vital organizations this year with active family participation.

It's going to be an incredible year at Tierra Bonita. Here we go!
